Rapper 50 Cent’s series Book of Power II: Specter It has been renewed for a fourth season, which will air on Starz.
Variety reported on the early contract renewal and made the surprise announcement that award-winning actor Michael Ealy will join the season 4 cast. The announcement comes ahead of the franchise’s season 3 premiere on March 7, 2023. The series will be a permanent cast member, Erie said on Starz, and he’s already in New York for season 4 filming.
In a statement, Kathryn Busby, the network’s president of original programming, said: “This passionate drama Book of Power II: Specter Continuing to resonate with our audience, we’re excited to begin work on season four ahead of season three’s premiere. It’s clear our fans are ready to revel in more of this explosive series, and we look forward to Michael joining our incredible cast.
Details about Ealy’s role are that he’s joined the cast to play a detective named Don Carter, who is said to be a rising NYPD officer and hopeful to become police chief. However, his career took a turn when his wife was killed in a firefight between rival drug gangs.
Street violence-loving Detective Carter reverses his original plans and now wears a Kevlar vest to lead the NYPD’s elite drug task force aimed at eradicating drug-related violence from his community. The network said Carter’s struggle with the loss of his wife was his character’s storyline.
Book of Power II: Specter is one of three separate spinoffs that follow the storyline of the original series strengthCreated by Courtney Kemp and 50 Cent, who helped flesh out the series as not just a man trying to leave life on the streets, but also a look at what it was like to be in the drug underworld based on the rapper’s own experiences.
The Power series includes PowerBook II: Ghost, PowerBook III: Raising Kanan, and Powerbook IV: Force and BMF (Black Mafia Family).
