Vans and Timberland celebrate the 30th anniversary of the former brand’s iconic ‘Half Cab’ with their first capsule collection. The “Half Cab” was first released in 1992, and Timberland’s rugged “Euro Hiker” boot followed in 1988. The original model is known for its sturdy construction that promises cold-weather performance (perfect for walkers on metropolitan terrain) and clean, earth-colored appeal. The duo have teamed up for a new hybrid silhouette that’s half skateboard, half mountaineering, dubbed the Vans Skateboarding x Timberland Half Cab Hiker.
The duo described the collaboration as “utterly unique” while still maintaining a sense of familiarity. A ⅝ cut upper on the outsole of the Euro Hiker boot, along with two-tone rounded boot laces, reflect this statement. The ‘Half Cab Hiker’ is crafted from canvas, premium leather from Timberland and a ReBOTL™ lining made from at least 50% recycled plastic. The shoe also features a padded leather collar, rubber lug outsole, and dual graphics. Available colorways include Wheat and Chocolate/Olive.
Plus, the “Half Cab Hikers” is a reimagining of Timberland’s premium 6-inch waterproof boot from 1973. Taking inspiration from streetwear, workwear, and skate aesthetics, the Vans team modernized the shoe. The new model stays in touch with the Vans aesthetic with a signature checkerboard print look. More developments can be seen in the all-black update marking the release of the Vans Skateboarding x Timberland 6-inch boot.
Infused with the DNA and heritage of these footwear brands, two precious styles are presented, classic and contemporary. The Vans Skateboarding x Timberland collaboration will be available at select Vans & Timberland retailers on December 20th. Van’s website and Timberland’s website also provide cooperation. The Half Cab Hikers retail for $160, while the 6-inch boots retail for $230.
