Future paid tribute to Bob Marley on Tuesday by getting a portrait of the late great reggae artist tattooed on his foot. Future has long declared himself a fan of reggae, listing Bob Marley as his favorite artist across all genres.
In a video shared on Instagram, the Atlanta rapper shared the process of getting the tattoo, noting that his tattoo artist Steve plans to add Marley’s image to his leg.
Bob Marley died on May 11, 1981 at the age of 36. The King of Reggae is loved and respected by generations who recognize the impact his music had on the world during a time of hatred and oppression of black people around the world. Future’s video shows the tattoo artist preparing to paint Marley’s image, printing a close-up image of Marley’s face, his dreadlocks visibly parted.
The rapper looked calm as the tattoo artist placed the drawing on his left leg. Future also appears to have tattoos of other historical figures on his legs, with a large image of Martin Luther King Jr. covering his calf below the Bob Marley tattoo.
Bob Marley is known for songs like “Women Don’t Cry,” “Three Little Birds,” and “Can You Be Loved?” Marley’s birthday is February 6, a day widely celebrated by his family and Jamaicans during Reggae Month.

“A true musical and spiritual legend, Jah Bless,” wrote one fan. “Greatest Grace The Mic ever,” said another.
“Sunny and nice weather,” added another.
Future shared in 2017 that he loves reggae and that Marley is his all-time favorite artist.
“Bob Marley is my favorite artist of all time and I’m a big fan of reggae. His music has inspired me in so many ways and I’m really grateful to be able to experience it. Thank you Bob Marley for what you do Everything,” the rapper said in an interview with US Magazine.
Future is widely regarded as one of the most influential rappers of his generation and is credited with pioneering the widespread use of drugs in hip-hop. While the Atlanta rapper is undeniably great, Bob Marley was influential on another level. For nearly half a century, the Jamaican singer’s timeless music has captivated fans around the world.
