first trailer Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Commandments has been released. The upcoming Marvel film, starring Simu Liu and Awkwafina, will be released on September 3.
The character Shang-Chi was created by Steve Engelhardt and Jim Starling and first appeared in Marvel comic books in the 1970s to capitalize on the popularity of Bruce Lee and the TV show Kung Fu. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Liu explained that it is precisely because the character is relatively unknown that he is fun to play.
“The most exciting thing about coming into this role is that his backstory has never been told before,” he said. “We know many different versions of Batman’s origin story, how his parents were murdered when he was very young. We know about Peter Parker who was bitten by a radioactive spider, and he lost his uncle. The world is very foreign to most people, so we have a lot of freedom and creative freedom to make it the way we want.”
The film was originally scheduled to be released around Lunar New Year in February, but due to COVID-19, the film was pushed back to September.
