Popcaan released his new album, great is himWith great fanfare.
The 17-track project saw a star-studded guest lineup including Chronic Law, Drake, Burna Boy and Toni-Ann Singh. Great Is He is the follow-up to Popcaan’s 2020 album, Strap, which also saw some big collaborations between Drake, Preme and French Montana. Some big ballroom hitters are also in the program, such as Tommy Lee Sparta, Jada Kingdom, Masicka and Stylo G.
In a reaction to the project’s release, Unruly Boss pointed out that the process wasn’t easy, but by share sure, he managed it in time for the release date.
“It’s not been easy, but my album is out now, go play it and enjoy it,” Popcaan wrote. “I thank everyone who played a part in making this project possible. I just want to thank God for my talent, vision and blessings! They don’t believe us, but we will prove them wrong. #unrulyforever nah Beg Fren or always support now #GIHE.”
With Popcaan having a great year in 2022 and looking to replicate the tremendous growth in his career this year, what better way to start the new year than with a full body of work? Notable tracks from the album include “Skeleton Cartier,” released last year, and the Toni-Ann Singh-assisted single “Next To Me.” Poppy also relied on his Afrobeats collaborator Burna Boy, who wrote the song “Aboboyaa.”
Unruly Boss’ fellow St. Thomas deejay Chronic Law on the single “St. Thomas Native,” a track that pays homage to their parish of birth. The showrunner also bonded with OVO Sound boss Drake on the track “We Caa Done,” which they released earlier this month for a music video filmed in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
