Snoop Dogg teamed up with designer Philipp Plein to create a sneaker. The marriage of Plein’s gothic aesthetic with Snoop Dogg’s musical legacy is at the heart of the collaboration. The creatives have released two styles of the sneaker: a black and gold colorway featuring a platform heel, jet-black leather body and gold logo, and a purple, black and yellow colorway with crystal embellishments inspired by the Lakers.
An intimate celebration took place Monday night at the Bel Air hotel “Chateau Falconview” in Plein. The main residence sits on 3.6 acres on a winding road and is reported to be worth $200 million. The party invited many celebrities, such as musician Tommy Lee (Tommy Lee). It wraps around a giant purple sneaker cake replica around 10pm.
Snoop expresses his bromance with Plein, which developed naturally over time and started with a mutual fan relationship. Snoop, who grew up in Long Beach, California, says: “Philipp and I have been friends for several years. We’ve done some events together, some fashion shows in different countries. We decided to collaborate, so I wanted to bring my influence The focus is on the shoes but I want him to round out the show so I really don’t do as much creatively as he and his team because I believe in what they do. You can walk up to it and dance to it … you can work it out. You can wear it with pants, you can wear it with shorts, you can wear it with a sweatshirt. You can wear it with anything. It’s designed for everyone.”
As Plein has said before, he values the importance of “real” partnerships. Snoop has performed at previous Plein shows, and the rapper’s father and son have both walked the designer’s runway. “It’s a family business,” says Plein.
The Plein Dogg collection by Snoop Dogg is available in Plein’s store and website.
