According to recent reports, attorneys for Team Roc have dropped their case against Mississippi State Prison, but have vowed to revisit their concerns if the situation worsens again.
Parchman Farm has undergone numerous renovations since Team Roc filed the lawsuit, but the correctional facility remained open even after several fatal stabbings and unsanitary living conditions at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
NBC reports that Parchman Farms received new stainless steel showers, toilets and sinks after a previous restroom collapsed and was littered with rat droppings. MSP also has new athletic facilities including basketball, flag football, boxing, and upgraded heating and air conditioning ventilation systems.
The suit was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it could be refiled at any time. The Roc team recently visited MSP with a film crew, and the footage will be sent back to the DOJ for further review.
