Gucci will launch its first independent menswear collection in three years and the first since creative director Alessandro Michele left. The fashion show will be held at the Pitti Uomo in Florence just after the holidays and then in Milan. Men’s Fashion Week runs from January 13th to January 17th.
The five-day event featured 72 events, including 21 fashion shows and 31 presentations. Gucci, probably the most anticipated live show, kicks off at 2pm CET. The show will represent Gucci’s first exclusive menswear collection following three years on the co-ed runway. While the brand has yet to name a new creative director, the bar remains high.
It is expected that the turnover of Italian Fashion Week this year will reach 96.6 billion euros, an increase of 16% over 2021. That’s up 4% from the previous estimate of 12% year-over-year growth. Inflation certainly played a role in driving revenue growth, as end product prices increased by just 3%, implying a 16% sales increase in 2022 thanks to higher fashion volumes. However, the forecast for 2023 may be unrealistic due to market volatility and external variables.
This in-depth exploration of men’s clothing, mainly initiated by Gucci’s independent series, is a new attempt with great potential for the fashion market. Evolving, modifying and experimenting with fashion consumers is how many fashion traditions are cemented. U.S. exports jumped 54.1 percent in the first nine months of the year, matching China’s weaker-than-expected 18.8 percent growth.
